In a major step against illegal IMEI tampering and mobile phone cloning, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office in Faisalabad, along with the NCCIA Faisalabad, carried out a successful raid on a mobile shop in the D-Ground Dragon Mall mobile market.
During the raid, authorities seized two cloned mobile phones. The shop owner, who was involved in selling these illegal devices, was taken into custody by the NCCIA. Investigations are ongoing to uncover any additional illegal stock or related activities.
The PTA enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy against the illegal alteration of mobile device identifiers. IMEI tampering and the sale of cloned phones are serious threats to national security and public safety, as they enable criminals to operate anonymously and facilitate cybercrime, financial fraud, abductions, and other illegal activities.
The PTA urges the public to remain alert and promptly report any suspicious activity involving mobile phone cloning or IMEI tampering. Public cooperation is essential in curbing these illegal practices and ensuring a safer digital environment.
Regulatory measures are being reinforced, and those found violating the law will face strict legal action. The PTA remains committed to holding offenders accountable and safeguarding mobile network integrity.
