According to officials, the funding—approved by the Finance Department—is being distributed zone-wise, with Rs. 1 billion allocated to each area of the city. The money will be used to improve water supply, drainage, and sanitation systems across Lahore.

This investment aims to enhance water supply, drainage, and sanitation infrastructure, ensuring better services for residents. Following the release, the Finance Department has officially instructed the Accountant General’s office to transfer the funds, allowing WASA to move forward with pending construction and equipment purchases.
WASA had earlier urged the government to release the funds urgently to avoid delays. With this timely disbursement, ongoing development projects can now continue without disruption.
Govt Orders Inquiry After Swimming Pool Accident at The Punjab School
In a separate development, the Punjab government has issued a notice to The Punjab School after a swimming pool accident involving a student. Authorities have been instructed to carry out a detailed investigation to determine what went wrong and to ensure such incidents don’t happen again.
