The ongoing monsoon spell brought intense rainfall to Islamabad’s Margalla Hills on Monday, causing sudden flash floods in the scenic Saidpur village.

The downpour hit without much warning, sending strong currents of water sweeping through the area near the well-known Des Pardes restaurant. The unexpected surge left both residents and tourists rushing to find safety.

Videos circulating on social media show the powerful force of the floodwaters, with cars and vans being swept away by the fast-moving current. Eyewitness footage captures scenes of chaos as water surged through the narrow streets of Saidpur, flooding homes and businesses and leaving several vehicles stranded.

Authorities Begin Cleanup, Vow Action Against Illegal Structures After Flash Flood in Islamabad

Local authorities have confirmed that once the rain subsides, all illegal constructions in the flood-hit Saidpur area will be demolished. Sanitation teams are currently working to drain standing water that has collected in low-lying areas—mainly due to encroachments along the natural watercourse. Officials stated that the anti-encroachment operation will continue until the area is fully cleared.

This incident comes as Punjab remains on high alert amid ongoing monsoon rains. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued warnings for potential flooding across the province through July 25.

The current spell of rain is part of the fourth wave of the monsoon, which has already brought widespread downpours to several districts across the region.
